Make An Impact With Digital Signage Displays

You will need to consider how to ensure your digital signage display can make an impact. One of the benefits of digital signage is the possible increase in brand awareness and potential client engagement, but this can only happen if the signage is positioned effectively and the content on screen is particularly eye-catching. With all of this to consider, setting up your display can prove a headache. Thankfully, in this article we will outline the best techniques to maximise the potential of your signs, teaching you how to ensure your digital signage display makes an impact. Let’s take a look…

Location

Where you decide to place your digital signage display can make an enormous difference. If your display is outside, choosing a location with increased visitation and footfall will ensure more people will see your content. A pedestrian section of a busy town or city would be ideal, as this would be somewhere it would be acceptable to stop and read the messages on the screen of an outdoor freestanding display.

For an indoor freestanding smaller screen display, making sure the screen is at the correct height will increase the chances of the message being viewed. Aim to place the screen at an average eye level. Many shop fronts use larger indoor displays to populate their shop windows, drawing more people to their business.

Readability

It sounds simple, but it is incredibly important that your text is readable on screen, otherwise this renders your digital signage display essentially pointless. Black text on a white background is a safe bet, but is relatively minimalist, and you may want to choose distinct colour combinations. Blue text on a yellow background also provides a clear, readable contrast. Avoid using either two light or two dark tones. For example, using blue text on a red background or vice versa is an easy one to steer clear of.

Aim for simplicity, making sure your message is conveyed with clear, concise language. Having less text on your display will allow you to make your text larger and therefore easier to read. Call to action statements or QR codes are ingenious methods for increasing audience engagement.

Glare

Having the sun or another intense light source reflect onto your screen can be incredibly irritating, as it can prevent the messages on your signage display screen from resonating properly with its intended audience. Whilst there is the option to place your displays in a more shaded or darker environment, these are rarely the optimum locations for your screes to make the maximum impact.

Thankfully, steps have been made to try and limit the amount of glare. Anti-glare technology diffuses the light hitting the screen, reducing the effects of an unwanted shine limiting your display. However, whilst this is effective when viewed straight on, glare may persist when viewing the display more of an angle. Anti-reflective technology also exists, bouncing light away from the screen more effectively, but this is usually a more expensive solution.

Screen Size

A decision must be made about what size your digital signage display is. Consider your audience and the intention of the message. If it is simply a staff memo, does it need to be broadcast on the largest scale possible? Similarly, a smaller screen would be potentially ineffective for an outdoor advertising display.

There is a broad range of different available screen sizes depending on what you want to achieve with your digital display. There are wall mounted poster displays and freestanding options, as well as interactive options. Decide whether you want it to be a simple visual display or an interactive one and choose your screen accordingly to these parameters.

Strength Of Content

Whilst digital signage can attract more customers, a display is only as good as the digital content used. Thankfully, one of the strengths of using a digital signage display is that you can swap out and improve the content shown on screen.

If you are finding your display is not being received as well as you expected, try and gauge what your customers prioritise, and remake your content on display to match this. Making effective content can be trial and error. Observing what your customers have responded to or ignored can really elevate the content on display.
